Job Summary

As a Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) Nurse, you will play an important role in delivering specialised nursing care to patients in the CICU. Your job includes monitoring and managing severely ill cardiac patients suffering from illnesses such as heart failure, heart attacks, and post-cardiac surgery. Your experience in cardiovascular care, attentiveness to patient requirements, and rapid decision-making abilities will help cardiac patients recover and thrive in the CICU.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Monitoring: Continuously monitor patients’ vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and response to treatment.
Cardiac Assessments: Perform comprehensive cardiac assessments, recognizing and addressing any changes in patient conditions.Maintenance Duty Supervisor
Medication Administration: Administer medications as prescribed, including intravenous medications and critical care drugs.
Ventilator Management: Monitor and manage mechanical ventilation for patients on life support.
Hemodynamic Monitoring: Interpret and manage hemodynamic monitoring systems, such as arterial lines and central venous catheters.
Post-Operative Care: Provide specialized care to patients recovering from cardiac surgeries, ensuring their stability and comfort.
Emergency Response: Respond swiftly to cardiac emergencies, initiating appropriate interventions and calling for medical support.
Collaborative Care: Work closely with the multidisciplinary team, including cardiologists, surgeons, and respiratory therapists, to coordinate patient care.
Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about cardiac conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care.
Care Planning: Develop and implement individualized care plans, considering patients’ unique needs and treatment goals.
Wound Care: Manage post-surgical wound care and dressing changes as necessary.
Infection Control: Follow strict infection control protocols to minimize the risk of hospital-acquired infections.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in nursing or an equivalent nursing qualification is required.
Registered Nurse (RN) license or registration from the appropriate regulatory body is necessary.
Specialization or certification in Critical Care Nursing or Cardiac Nursing is highly advantageous.
Previous experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or CICU setting is preferred.
In-depth knowledge of cardiac care principles, hemodynamic monitoring, and ventilator management.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills in assessing and managing critical patients.
